BMG LABTECH Microplate Reader Control Software

The Reader Control Software offers an intuitive and easy to understand straight forward user interface. All microplate reader settings can be self defined. You can control the microplate reader through various test protocols and select basic parameters, detection modes, layout, microplate formats, etc.

Test Protocol Definition

The Reader Control Software also incorporates a quick start feature that allows an endpoint analysis of a plate with no prior training or expertise.

Of course it is also possible to define more complex test protocols. The BMG LABTECH Reader Control Software is versatile enough to run multi-step assays including multiple reagent injections, shaking and using advanced timing features. For more complex tasks, BMG LABTECH offers unmatched flexibility with built-in script mode and the experienced software team works with customers to help design any automation solution needed.

Real Time Data Display

The control software offers a real-time data display during measurement. The well scanning feature allows reading multiple points in each well - especially useful for cell based assays. These features can also be displayed in microplate or well view.

Enhanced Data Analysis and Robotic Integration Capabilities

The measurement data is then automatically transferred to BMG LABTECH's MARS Software for comprehensive data analysis.

The measurement data can also be stored in dBase or in ASCII format. The extensive ASCII export function is the most versatile in the industry. It is highly configureable and can be customized for LIMS systems and 3rd party analysis software.

With BMG LABTECH's versatile Reader Control Software it is also possible to control numerous readers from one computer. For High-Throughput Screening, the Reader Control Software allows readers to be controlled through ActiveX or DDE interfaces for easier robotic integration. For mid-throughput, the 50 plate capacity Stacker is available.

Many of the software features from the Reader Control Software are explained in our Video Training Series and can be found in our Video Library. Click on the videos below for some examples:

Simple Absorbance Reading This video training series tutorial from BMG LABTECH Demonstrates a simple software set up for a FLUOstar Omega microplate reader in order to perform full spectrum absorbance measurements of samples and blanks in a 96-well plate format. Each spectrum is captured within a second per well and the measurement can be followed in real time.
Simple Fluorescence reading

This video training series tutorial from BMG LABTECH demonstrates a simple software set up for a FLUOstar Omega microplate reader in order to perform end point fluorescence measurements of samples and blanks in a 96-well plate format. Fluorescence intensity measurements from the top can be followed in real time.

Simple Injection Reading

In this tutorial from the video training series, you can see a demonstration of a simple software set up for a FLUOstar Omega microplate reader in order to perform kinetic fluorescence measurements of samples in a 96-well plate format. Kinetic fluorescence intensity measurements from top can be followed in real time before, during and after the injection event.

Simple Luminescence Reading

In this tutorial from the video training series, you can see a demonstration of a simple software set up for a FLUOstar Omega microplate reader in order to perform end point luminescence measurements of samples and a blank in a 96-well plate format. Automatic gain adjustment ensures maximal dynamic range and luminescence measurements from top can be followed in real time.

Software Control Icons

In this tutorial from the video traning series, you are shown a brief explanation of the most basic Reader Control Software functions and setting regarding current Filter and Optics, Pumps, Temperature Control, Test Protocol Selection, Quick Start and Help function. It also helps acquaint you with the various software control icons for BMG LABTECH's Microplate Reader Software.

Current State Video This video, part of BMG LABTECH's Video Training Series, shows how to change the current state display window as a default open.
Incubator Controls Video

In this tutorial from BMG LABTECH's Video Training Series, you will learn how to control and monitor the incubator temperature in your Microplate Reader.

Plate layout Video

This tutorial, part of the BMG LABTECH Video Training Series, shows you how to create a microplate layout including samples, standards, & blanks prior a measurement with your BMG LABTECH microplate reader.

Simple Kinetic Measurements

This video from BMG LABTECH shows how to create and execute a simple kinetic fluorescence protocol including baseline monitoring, reagent injection and continued monitoring of the changing fluorescence intensity signal using BMG LABTECH's Omega series of microplate readers.

DNA Absorbance reading

This video shows how to set up a Test Protocol in the Reader Control Software and execute DNA measurements  in a half-area 96-well plate using 50 µL DNA solution per well at different concentrations applying the FLUOstar Omega microplate reader. UV absorbance spectra were collected in a wavelength range of 240 nm to 400 nm at 1 nm resolution for each well of samples and blanks and the automated path length correction was applied. A detailed data analysis is shown in the DNA 260 / 280 ratio and Data Analysis video.
