  • What is a Qubit microplate reader used for?

    A Qubit microplate reader is used for highly specific, fluorescence-based quantification of DNA, RNA, protein and other biomolecules. It combines the sensitivity of Qubit chemistry with the throughput of 96‑ or 384‑well plates, making it ideal for NGS libraries, RNA work and high-volume sample processing.
  • Can I use Qubit assay kits on any fluorescence microplate reader?

    In principle, yes – any fluorescence microplate reader with the correct excitation/emission filters can run Qubit assays, but you should verify compatibility with your instrument and the specific kit. BMG LABTECH readers are explicitly configured and validated for Qubit-style quantification, simplifying setup and method use.
  • Is a Qubit microplate reader more accurate than UV absorbance methods?

    Yes, for most complex samples. Qubit assays only generate signal when the dye binds its target (dsDNA, RNA, protein, etc.), so they are less affected by contaminants, free nucleotides and salts that inflate A₂₆₀ readings on spectrophotometers. This makes Qubit-based quantification on a microplate reader more accurate for downstream applications like NGS.
