Dual Emission Detection

BMG LABTECH has developed a unique Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection System that allows the detection of two emitted wavelengths at the same time. In Fluorescence Polarization mode, this technology is used to read both the parallel and the perpendicular emission signals simultaneously.

Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection gives several distinct advantages to BMG LABTECH microplate readers. These advantages are especially useful for High Throughput Screening (HTS) assays involving FRET, TR-FRET (HTRF®, Lance™, LanthaScreen™), BRET and Fluorescence Polarization. Advantages include:

Simultaneous Dual Emission is standard on BMG LABTECH’s PHERAstar, POLARstar and RUBYstar, and can be added to the FLUOstar and NOVOstar.

The Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection System employs two matched photomultiplier tubes. The technology is normally combined with a ratio calculation of the results from both emission channels. Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection substantially reduces plate read times and corrects for any signal variations due to differences in well volumes, concentrations, or fluctuations in excitation energy.

Simultaneous Dual Emission Detection is perfect for FRET, TR-FRET, BRET and Fluorescence Polarization assays since the plate only has to be read once, and when compared to other readers, gives increased throughput, improved sensitivity and lower %CVs.
