Follow our detailed instructions to ensure your PHERAstar® microplate reader is safely and securely packed for service or upgrades.
Ensure that all plates are removed from the reader and all liquids from injectors.
If your instrument has been exposed to patient sera, positive samples, or any other biohazard material, consult the decontamination instructions in your manual.
Open the optic module door and remove all optic modules from the slide. Store them in their protective cases.
Ensure your instrument is powered on. Close the software or hold the plate carrier in/out button for more than three seconds to automatically move the plate carrier and transport system into their lock positions.
Access the transport pin inside the instrument by opening the optic module door and locating the silver screw at the back left. Push and turn the screw clockwise to securely lock the plate carrier, ensuring it is tight and immobile.
Turn off the PHERAstar FSX and place the red protection plate in the position shown. Start by tightening the middle screw finger-tight, followed by the two outer screws. Close the optic module door.
Done! Your reader is ready to be shipped.
When the PHERAstar is in its permanent position, you can unlock the plate carrier. Open the optic module door to find the silver screw at the back left. Turn the screw counter-clockwise by hand to unlock the plate carrier pin, ensuring it moves freely up and down when unlocked.
Inside the optic module door, unscrew the three screws, and remove the red protection plate. The screws will remain attached to the plate due to a spring-loading mechanism. Store the plate in the shipment box.
Done! Your reader is ready to be used.
