What is the lifespan of the laser in our microplate readers?

- The NEPHELOstar Plus uses a red diode laser that emits at 635 nm. This is a solid-state laser and never needs to be replaced.
- The PHERAstar FS has two different lasers:
- For AlphaScreen® measurements, a red diode laser that emits at 688 nm is used. This is a solid-state laser that never has to be replaced.
- For TR-FRET or TRF measurements such as HTRF®, a nitrogen-pulsed laser is used that emits at 337 nm. This laser has a sealed chamber with nitrogen gas which depletes over time. It has a lifespan of 3-5 years.
