BMG LABTECH, a market leader in microplate instrumentation, is looking for a motivated individual to join our technical service and support team to be based in the greater Boston, MA area. Technical Support Representative Job Duties:

  • Provide technical support for BMG LABTECH instrumentation
  • Provide software support for users of BMG LABTECH software
  • Perform routine service and repair of BMG LABTECH equipment onsite
  • Travel to customer sites for onsite service or training visits
  • Inside and outside sales of product service plans, accessories, and upgrades via phone, email, and onsite visits
  • Develop the business inside a large service territory and maintain a consistent volume of work year round
  • Document service calls and repair services using established procedures
  • Enter and maintain customer service contact information through the Salesforce CRM tool
  • Support the sales team as needed with product demonstrations, installs, etc.
  • Support the service team with travel to all corners of the USA as needed
  • Provide feedback to BMG’s headquarters on repairs, failures, and improvements
  • Travel to the US home office based in Cary, NC for ongoing training of new products and services

Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-year Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or similar technical field with 1-3 years laboratory experience
  • Experience in use and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, microplate reader experience is a huge bonus
  • Knowledge of the principles of fluorescence, absorbance, luminescence and other light-based detection techniques is a plus
  • Proper customer-oriented verbal and email communication skills
  • CRM software (Salesforce) knowledge and experience preferred
  • Strong PC proficiency with the ability to troubleshoot system software and hardware issues
  • Willingness to travel on short notice with an overnight stay
  • Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. unassisted
  • A dedicated area in your home to work, store boxes and service-related items, and perform service tasks as needed
  • A clean driving record and reliable transportation
