Can I use an A492 filter for a fluorescence measurement?

No. Any filter that is labelled with “A” or “Abs” is an absorbance only filter.

These filters can only be used for measurements in absorbance mode in the NOVOstar and OPTIMA series of microplate readers.

The same is true for EX or TREX filters, which can be used only for excitation and time-resolved excitation measurements. The same applies to filters labelled  EM or TREM (emission or time-resolved emission only).
BMG LABTECH offers a wide range of filters from UV to NIR with varying band lengths. BMG LABTECH has also designed and optimized specific filters for specific assays, e.g. LanthaScreenTM and HTRF®. Furthermore, BMG LABTECH will work with the user to find the optimal filters for their assay.
