OPTIMA Microplate Reader Series
The Optimal Combination of Flexibility and Performance

DLReady certificationThe well-known filter-based OPTIMA series of multidetection microplate readers is designed to handle a wide variety of cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology applications in academic and pharmaceutical research.

All models provide high performance optical filters with advanced optics, light guides, and photomultiplier technology. To enhance assay flexibility the OPTIMA microplate readers feature top and bottom plate reading, well scanning, sixteen filter positions, expanded temperature control up to 60°C, plate shaking, and gas vent connection. They are compatible with all microplate formats between 6 and 384 wells in all measurement modes and cover the full wavelength range 240 to 740 nm, or even up to 900 nm. Optimized for kinetic assays, the OPTIMA microplate reader can be supplied with Onboard ‘smart’ injectors, allowing reagent injection and plate reading simultaneously. Injection speed and timing is fully adjustable within the control software. Kinetic data can be collected at a rapid 50 reading points per second or as slow as one point every 2½ hours.

All OPTIMA readers have been designed with a dedicated luminescence detection system so no choice must be made between a microplate fluorometer and luminometer. They are all certified by Promega for the Dual Luciferase Reporter (DLR™) gene assay.

OPTIMA Lite

The OPTIMA Lite series of instruments are designed for the laboratory with limited microplate reader needs. These readers offer a great performance/price ratio and can be fully upgraded to all of the features and measurement modes in the OPTIMA line. While you might only need a luminometer today you’ll be able to grade to reagent injectors, absorbance, fluorescence, fluorescence polarization, and time-resolved fluorescence tomorrow.

FLUOstar OPTIMA F:
The FLUOstar OPTIMA F is an extremely sensitive fluorescence and time-resolved fluorescence microplate reader. With optional injection capabilities, the FLUOstar OPTIMA F is a great entry level microplate reader capable of popular assays like calcium screening (FURA-2, FLUO-3/4, INDO-1), GFP quantitation, FRET, ORAC, and ion channel studies. Click here for more information on this fluorescence microplate reader.

FLUOstar OPTIMA FL:
Take the FLUOstar OPTIMA F and add a separate measurement channel for luminescence and you have the FLUOstar OPTIMA FL. The FL features an ultra sensitive luminescence measurement mode that is Promega dual luciferase validated up to 384-well plates. The FLUOstar OPTIMA FL can perform popular luminescence assays such as BRET®, aequorin, ABEL™, luciferase, and many others in addition to the fluorescence and time-resolved fluorescence assays of the FLUOstar OPTIMA F. Click here for more information on this upgradeable microplate reader.

FLUOstar OPTIMA ABS:
The FLUOstar OPTIMA ABS is a UV/Vis absorbance microplate reader that forms the cornerstone of the OPTIMA series. The OPTIMA ABS can perform all standard absorbance based assays such as 260/280 DNA quantitation, Bradford, NADH/NADPH, P450, ELISAs, and much more. Click here for more information on this absorbance microplate reader.

The OPTIMA series comes with a new version of BMG LABTECH’s established OPTIMA reader control software and comprehensive and powerful MARS Data Analysis Software. The familiar and highly visual OPTIMA reader control software provides limitless possibilities for test set up and is fully compliant with FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 11. The well-organized data analysis software – MARS – offers a template manager for building complex data processing protocols and a wizard-guided interface to create easy step-by-step calculations. MARS evaluation software also allows you to perform ratios, linear regressions, and popular bioscience calculations like Lineweaver Burk or Michaelis Menten plots with ease.

In order to run BMG LABTECH instruments, you also need a personal computer with WindowsTM operating system (7/Vista/Win 2000/XP). Easy export to MS ExcelTM 2007/2003/2000/XP is possible.

All OPTIMA microplate readers can be incorporated into a wide array of robotic systems via ActiveX or DDE interface and the fast loading system. For rapid mid-throughput plate handling, BMG LABTECH offers the Stacker with an integrated barcode reader.
