With a powerful and efficient xenon flash lamp the FLUOstar OPTIMA F fluorometer provides full spectrum excitation energy and allows performing measurements in the range from 240 - 740 nm or even up to 900 nm. Unlike halogen lamps found on most other entry level fluorometers, the FLUOstar OPTIMA F provides exceptional UV power for fluorophores that excite below 400 nm, like FURA-2 calcium dyes and Hoechst DNA dyes. Coupled with an extremely sensitive photomultiplier tube (PMT) with noise reduction circuitry, the FLUOstar OPTIMA F fluorescence microplate reader can achieve class-leading sensitivity levels. The FLUOstar OPTIMA F fluorometer uses filters for fluorescence detection as found on all high-end HTS microplate readers. The filters provide superior light transmission characteristics when compared to monochromators and therefore provide the best performance available. The FLUOstar OPTIMA F fluorometer has sixteen filter wheel positions and protocols can be programmed to read up to eight fluorophores per protocol. Protocols that require multiple fluorophore reads per plate, such as SNP assays, FURA-2, INDO-1, or FRET can be read with ease. The FLUOstar OPTIMA F microplate fluorometer doesn't stop with fluorescence detection, it can be fully upgraded with additional detection modes as well as reagent injectors, extended incubation up to 60°C and much more. The OPTIMA platform was the first multidetection microplate reader to offer high performance luminescence mode and the FLUOstar OPTIMA F can be upgraded with this feature at any time. A FLUOstar OPTIMA Ffluorometer with optional luminescence is Dual Luciferase validated by Promega and will perform any commonly used luminescence assay. The FLUOstar OPTIMA F can also be upgraded to UV/Vis absorbance detection. ELISAs, 260/260 DNA quantitation, Bradford assays - the FLUOstar OPTIMA F with absorbance option can handle them all.
